Ishmael, n.d.

Poem of six five-line stanzas, entitled "Ishmael," expanding imaginatively in the first person on Abram's son by Hagar who was driven out into the desert with his mother but who was predicted to be the leader of a people. Begins "I thank thee, Abram, who has sent/Us to the desert's fiery sun/ Grieving us with Divine intent/Of gladdening a nation."
